"The great good fortune of food writers is that friends always want to take you to their favorite resturants," wrote the late dean of Filipino Cuisine writers, Doreen Gamboa Fernandez.

As a posthumous homage to Fernandez, Kusina Vol. 3 gathers a choice selection of her restaurant reviews from her weekly column, "In Good Taste." Published in the Philippine Daily Inquirer, the column had a nationwide following since its commencement in 1986.

An assiduous researcher, Fernandez explored food in a variety of setting-in her own words, "in markets, hometowns, city streets, festivals, restaurants, homes; in different regions, social classes and occcasions." She regarded each experience as a means of reflecion on a variety of levels, all leading towards the education of our taste buds.
